The ASA South African Championships took place from 26 to 28 March 2026 at Germiston Stadium in Ekurhuleni, where the Daller athletes delivered outstanding performances.
We are especially proud to announce that the only gold medal secured by the Limpopo team was won by our very own Marnu Hancke in the u/18 discus. Marnu achieved an impressive throw of 57.58m, firmly establishing himself as a top competitor.
Jaco van der Westhuyzen, competing as a u/18 athlete in the u/20 division, also delivered strong performances. Although he unfortunately did not qualify for the 100m final, he recorded excellent times in both the heats (10.63) and semi-final (10.57). Jaco did, however, qualify for the 200m final, where he finished in fourth place. He ran 21.14 in the heats, followed by 21.19 in both the semi-final and final.
In addition to his gold medal in discus, Marnu Hancke also competed in the u/18 shot put, where he secured an overall fourth place in the final with a distance of 17.27m.
Omphile Tshikane showed good form in the 800m, running a time of 2:02.73 in the semi-final, but unfortunately did not progress to the final.
The championships also featured two former Daller athletes. Kadmiel Lotika competed in the u/20 400m and ran a time of 48.14 in the heats. In the semi-final, he recorded a time of 47.25, followed by 47.42 in the final, earning him an overall fifth place. Rorisang Rammupudu competed in the u/23 400m and recorded a time of 48.06.
Our athletes can be proud of their achievements and the way they represented our school, community and province.
