There are no fewer than 150 species of owls on planet earth. They are all different: each one special and unique. God created each one of you in the same manner --- special and unique. It is this very “one-of-a-kind-ness” that we, here at Ben Viljoen, find so exciting.
It is through hard work and perseverance that you have reached this milestone in your high school career at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen. Great challenges, excitement and precious memories await you around every corner. We trust that, in the course of the next five years, you will experience breath-taking moments --- the kind that touches your heart and changes you for ever. May high school be the beginning of a wonderful journey which will enrich your lives and, may you, as a grade group, always uplift, support and encourage one another.
You will always feel a degree of uncertainty, doubt, worry an anxiety, but likewise, may you always be absolutely sure of who you are and where you can land softly and take sanctuary. You will make mistakes and learn valuable lessons. May one of your most poignant achievements be learning to apologize sincerely and then striving to do better and be better.

Here at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen we think and do things a little bit differently because everything we do, we do with RESPECT. Here we teach children to grow, to learn from disappointments and to celebrate success with humility.
Here, the learners, staff and parents form the unique heartbeat of the school. Academics form the cornerstone of our school and the learners' interests and needs are important to us. It is important to us that every grade 8 learner will feel so at home that they will quickly adapt to the Ben Viljoen motion. We also ensure special events, mass participation and loads of fun.

Although high school implies that children are one step closer to adulthood, parents form an integral part of everything the school undertakes. We thank you in advance for your positive involvement and attitude towards the school. Let your child take increasing responsibility, but stay involved and know that we, as educators, are working together to guide your child into adulthood.
