Athletics at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen starts their pre-season program early. The annual inter-house, presented in January, is the perfect opportunity for everyone to practice athletics. After the interhouse, the top athletes are motivated to train for the Interhigh which takes place in the last week of February.
Several friendly events also takes place before of the Interhigh to fully prepare these athletes.
Our athletes are a motivated group that works hard and performs time and time again.
Achievements:

- 29 athletes took part in the Limpopo Championships of which 5 athletes achieved first places.

- In the Achievement Cup we finished third
 
- Overall ended in third place with 607 points
 
- Six of our athletes participated in the South African Championships and one of our athletes took second places in the 100m, Medley relay and in the 4x100m relay.

- During the ASA South African Athletics Championships, Jaco van der Westhuyzen achieved two gold medals. Rorisang Rammupudu, Amo Motlatle and Johan Helberg each achieved a silver medal while Rorisang and Morgan Maeyane's relay team also won a silver medal.
 
- Rorisang Rammupudu took part in the ASA Senior South African Championships as well as the African Games where his relay team won a gold and bronze medal.
 
- Ellené van der Westhuyzen, Amo Motlatle, Edunette Kriel, Johan Helberg, Jaco van der Westhuyzen, Vanessa da Silva, Kyra Hancke, Rorisang Rammupudu, Morgan Maeyane and Dion Sebela acquired provincial colours.

- At the 60th Bosveld Interhigh we were placed 5th place overall with 607 points, a mere 2 points difference between us and Hoërskool Nylstroom in 4th place. Jaco van der Westhuyzen was named the best track athlete while Marnu Hancke walked away as the best field athlete. Our girls' and boys' relay teams won their divisions, and we also walked away with the trophy for best junior boys' team. 
 
- Nine athletes took part in the South African Athletics Championships. Johan Helberg won a bronze medal in the u/18 Discus, Edunette Kriel a silver medal in the u/16 90m Hurdles and Marnu Hancke bronze medals in the u/16 Discus and u/16 Shot Put respectively. 
 
- Kyra Hancke took part in the South African Heptathlon Championships, as u/18, although she is u/17, and won an overall first place during these championships!

- Six athletes participated at the ASA South African Athletics Championships. Jaco van der Westhuyzen won two silver medals in the u/18 100m and 200m respectively, Kyra Hancke won a silver medal in the u/20 heptathlon, Emma-Lee van der Westhuyzen won a bronze medal in the u/16 100m, and Kadmiel Lotika won a bronze medal in the u/20 400m
 
- Two athletes participated in the SASA South African Athletics Championships, and Kadmiel Lotika won a bronze medal in the u/20 400m
 
- Jaco van der Westhuyzen, Kadmiel Lotika and Kyra Hancke were included in the Limpopo team that participated in the ASA Senior Athletics Championships
 
- Jaco van der Westhuyzen is included in the South African u/18 Athletics team for participation in the AUSC (African Union Sport Council) Region 5 Games, where he won two bronze medals
