Here, culture is a passion that not only stays with the heart, but quickly turns into things to do. The main purpose of the youth branch is to give back to the community through the various projects. The youth branch consists of a group of volunteering learners who are passionate about culture, language and helping to build a better society piece by piece.
The year kicks off with the Laundry Line project, which takes place annually, collecting clothes and blankets for people in need. The second project on their agenda is to collect dog food, food bowls and blankets for the local SPCA.
Between school activities, these learners make time to give back and we are truly proud of them.
During 2023, our ATKV Youth Branch was also named as the most functional branch in the entire Limpopo-Gauteng region. Jo-Mari Janse van Rensburg, the 2023 Chairman, was also one of the Top three chairmen from each region who were invited to the ATKV Kultuurkuier.
Ellené van der Westhuyzen, the 2024 chairperson of our ATKV Youth Branch, attended the annual ATKV congress which took place at Buffelspoort. She says that it was a huge privilege for her to attend this congress.
