At Hoërskool Ben Viljoen there are several leadership opportunities for our learners. Besides the captaincy of our sports teams and committee members of all our cultural activities, we also have a Representative Learner Council (Grade 8-12) and an Executive Council (Grade 12) with broad representation among our learners.
Each class has two class representatives, the Representative Learner Council (Grade 8-12), and twenty-eight Grade 12 learners form part of the Executive Council. Our practice is to annually appoint a Representative Learner Council, as well as an Executive Council. The Council's purpose is to assist the staff in the functioning of the school and to identify and develop young leaders for later leadership roles in the community.
