This past weekend, the second league event of the freshwater bank angling league for high schools took place at the Nile Biodiversity Dam in Mokopane. The competition once again proved that Hoërskool Ben Viljoen’s anglers are among the best, with excellent results across all our teams.
The Ben Vissers continued their good form, where they are currently experiencing an excellent season, and as a team achieved an overall second place. Individually, the team also did well, with Marthinus Dreyer achieving an impressive third place.
The Bennies team ended the competition in overall seventh place. There were also individual highlights, with Juhandrich Grundling achieving third place in the heaviest bag category.
However, our girls’ angling team, the Dallers, dominated the day with a strong team performance. They took overall first place and showed their mettle against strong competition. Individually, Chene Swart took overall second place, while Jenna Berry followed close behind in third place. In the heaviest bag category, Chene also took second place, with Jenna taking third place. Chene also caught the most fish during the day, with Jenna finishing in second place in this category.
With such promising results, it is clear that the Dallers anglers are approaching the 2026 season with great confidence. We look forward to the next league event where these talented anglers will once again showcase their skills.
