The Limpopo provincial hockey teams for the 2026 season were officially announced yesterday, and we are extremely proud of the nineteen players who have been included in the various teams. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication and perseverance that our hockey players show on the field.
In the u/14 girls’ division, three of our players were included in the IPT team, namely Rati Mangoale, Alexia Patricio and Remmogo Mokoena. Elzané Fleischman was, in turn, included in the u/14 girls’ regional team.
Furthermore, Oratile Moshoane, Lebo Piitso, Mbali Masombuka and Claudene van der Merwe were named as non-travelling reserves - a remarkable achievement that underlines their potential and talent.
Leisure Matsepe was included in the u/14 boys’ IPT team, while Xiahn Swart was named as a non-travelling reserve.
In the u/16 girls’ division, Lesedi Makofane and Zano Vazi earned their place in the regional team. Annel-Marie van der Walt and Denise van der Walt were selected as non-travelling reserves, which also recognises their hard work and consistent performance.
Our u/18 girls also made their mark, with Christi Patricio selected for the IPT team. In the same age group, Suné Lessing, Francia Meiring, Monya van Niekerk and Jaydéné Cloete were included in the regional team.
These selections are a special achievement and reflect the high standard of hockey at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen. To receive recognition at this level, one requires not only talent but also discipline, teamwork, and a passion for the sport.
Congratulations to all our players on this remarkable achievement. You make us proud and serve as an inspiration to your fellow learners. We wish each of you all the best with your preparations and participation in the various tournaments - may you make the most of every opportunity and carry our school’s name with pride.
