The dream of a modern astro hockey field at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen took a big step closer to reality on 31 March 2026, when the groundworks officially started. What was once just a vision and conversation is now slowly but surely starting to take shape on our grounds.
With the groundworks in full swing, there is palpable excitement among learners, staff and supporters. Every day brings new progress, and where there was, until recently, a field of grass, the foundation of something special is now starting to become visible.
This development is not just a project, but an investment in the future of hockey at our school. It symbolises growth, dedication and the pursuit of providing our sportsmen and women with the best possible facilities to develop and live out their talent.
For many learners and alumni, this astro hockey field is a long-awaited dream that is now starting to become a reality. This will not only improve the quality of games, but also create new opportunities for development, pride and school spirit.
With each passing day, we move one step closer to completing this impressive project. Our astro hockey field is more than just a field in the making - it is a symbol of progress, unity and the future we are building together.
