Hoërskool Ben Viljoen is proud to highlight a remarkable story of tradition, leadership and family pride that spans three decades at Boomhuis Boys’ Hostel.
In 1996, Herman de Klerk was appointed Head Boy of Boomhuis Boys’ Hostel for 1997. Thirty years later, this special piece of history is repeated as his son, SJ de Klerk, was appointed as Head Boy of Boomhuis Boys’ Hostel for 2027 during the inauguration that took place last night.
This remarkable milestone is a testament to the strong traditions and values that are passed down from one generation to the next. Although three decades separate their appointments, the same hostel and the same prestigious leadership position connect father and son in a truly unique way.
While times may have changed, the privilege of serving as Head Boy remains an exceptional honour. It offers the opportunity to lead, set a positive example and make a meaningful contribution to hostel life. For SJ, this appointment is even more special, as he now has the opportunity to write his own chapter in the De Klerk family’s Boomhuis story.
Congratulations, SJ, on this well-deserved appointment! We wish you every success in your leadership role in 2027. May you embrace this responsibility with pride, integrity and dedication, leaving a lasting and positive legacy at Boomhuis Boys’ Hostel.
A father’s legacy, a son’s new chapter – Daller tradition lives on across generations!
