We are incredibly proud of Annél-Marie van der Walt, who had the opportunity to be part of the u/16 President’s Hockey Team during the September school holidays. The team toured Namibia from 23 to 30 September 2026. In recognition of her leadership abilities, Annél-Marie was also given the great honour of being appointed captain of the team.
During the tour, the team tested their skills against several schools and a club team. They secured victories of 3–0 against Curro Windhoek and 2–0 against Windhoek High School. They also gained valuable experience in matches against Walvis Bay Gymnasium, Windhoek Afrikaans Private School and Windhoek Hockey Club.
In addition to the hockey on the field, there were also opportunities for adventure and team building. The players enjoyed activities such as sandboarding, a 4x4 quad bike ride, a catamaran cruise and a game drive. These experiences made the tour even more memorable and allowed the team to strengthen their bonds off the hockey field as well.
According to Annél-Marie, it was an incredible experience during which she learnt a great deal and grew both as a player and as a person. She is grateful for the opportunity and proud of the team’s achievements. She hopes to apply the knowledge and experience she gained to her continued hockey career at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen.
We look forward to seeing you use this experience to continue growing and proudly displaying your Daller spirit on the hockey field!
