We are incredibly proud of our three Dallers, Suné Lessing, Monya van Niekerk and Jaydéne Cloete, who had the special opportunity to travel to the Netherlands as part of the Into-Africa Sports group during the September school holidays.
A large part of the tour took place at SCHC (Stichtsche Cricket & Hockey Club) in Bilthoven, one of Europe’s leading hockey clubs. SCHC has an impressive hockey heritage and is home to several Dutch Olympic gold medallists. The club’s women’s team are also the current European champions – making this opportunity even more special for our Dallers.
Suné, Monya and Jaydéne performed exceptionally well in a highly competitive hockey environment. Through the matches, training sessions and hockey camp, they had the opportunity to further develop their skills, test themselves against strong opponents and gain valuable knowledge from experienced players and coaches.
However, the tour was about much more than just hockey. The three Dallers also had the opportunity to explore the Netherlands, experience Dutch culture first-hand and create memories that they will cherish for years to come. Opportunities such as these allow young people to broaden their horizons, develop confidence and experience greater independence in a new environment.
What makes this tour even more special is the feedback that Hoërskool Ben Viljoen received from the tour facilitators. According to them, it was an absolute privilege to have Suné, Monya and Jaydéne on the tour.
The three girls not only impressed on the hockey field, but also stood out through their good values, positive attitude and the way they conducted themselves throughout the tour. They demonstrated that true Daller pride is not only about achievement, but also about character, respect and the way we represent ourselves and our school.
Suné, Monya and Jaydéne – we are incredibly proud of you! You not only represented Hoërskool Ben Viljoen proudly abroad, but also showed what it means to be a true Daller.
