Great dreams are built on years of sacrifice, hard work, and the courage to embrace every challenge with determination. To ultimately earn the opportunity to represent your province against South Africa's finest young rugby players is a privilege reserved for only a select few. We are therefore incredibly proud of Jac-Johan Gouws, Rome Pietersen, and Corne Loock, who showcased their talent, character, and Daller spirit in outstanding fashion during the u/18 Academy Week.
The prestigious tournament took place from 5 to 11 July 2026 at Bergsig School in Kariega (Uitenhage), where the country's top u/18 rugby talent competed against one another. The three Dallers proudly represented the Limpopo team, with Jac-Johan having the additional honour of leading the side as captain.
Limpopo made an excellent start to the tournament with an exciting 31-29 victory over Namibia. On day two, they continued their impressive form by defeating the Griffons 21-11, before overcoming Border 17-12 on day three to finish the Academy Week unbeaten.
Jac-Johan's leadership and exceptional performances did not go unnoticed. He was named Player of the Match after the victory over the Griffons and repeated the achievement by earning a second Player of the Match award following the win against Border - a remarkable accomplishment that highlights both his influence on the field and his consistently outstanding performances.
Rome Pietersen and Corne Loock also made valuable contributions throughout the tournament. Their hard work, determination, and commitment to the team played an important role in Limpopo's successful campaign. Their performances are a testament to the quality of rugby being developed at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen.
Congratulations to Jac-Johan, Rome, and Corne on this outstanding achievement. You represented the Dallers with pride and proved yourselves to be exceptional ambassadors for Hoërskool Ben Viljoen. May this accomplishment be the beginning of many more memorable milestones in your rugby careers.
