On Saturday, 31 January 2026, we hosted eight schools at the annual Elbé Pretorius Memorial Athletics Meet – an event that is special to both the community, athletes and schools.
Hoërskool Rob Ferreira, Hoërskool Lydenburg, Hoërskool Kanonkop, Hoërskool Erasmus, HTS Witbank, Hoërskool Bergvlam, Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog and Sutherland High School proved to be formidable opponents on the track and field. The day took place in a warm Groblersdal, but had to be called off at 15:30 due to a thunderstorm.
Our athletes boast a total of 22 gold medals this year, as well as 19 silver and 19 bronze medals, which highlights the hard work, dedication and talent of our school’s sportsmen and women. Each medal tells a story of determination, perseverance and teamwork – the core of Hoërskool Ben Viljoen's sport philosophy.
