Our u/15 cricket team showed excellent form over the past two days, ending the week on a high note with two consecutive victories.
On 18 September, our u/15’s faced Hoërskool Hans Strijdom. Hoërskool Hans Strijdom batted first and was bowled out for 111 runs in 22.2 overs. Our bowlers showed great control of the match, with Benji Kriel taking 2/6, while Lian Jordaan, Bernu Eksteen and Bernard van Blerk each took 2 wickets.
With the bat, our team reached the target of 112 runs in 23 overs, winning the match by four wickets. Abdullah Patel played an important unbeaten innings of 39 runs off 42 balls, while Ethan Pietersen and Bernard van Blerk each contributed 15 runs.
The team was back on the field the following morning, 19 September, this time taking on Hoërskool Nylstroom’s u/15 team. Hoërskool Nylstroom batted first and was bowled out for just 79 runs in 24.2 overs. Our bowlers delivered a particularly strong performance, with Abdullah Patel and Bernu Eksteen each taking three wickets, while Ethan Pietersen took two wickets.
Our team comfortably reached the target of 80 runs, securing an eight-wicket victory. Bernu Eksteen top-scored with 21 runs, while Hendrik Botes remained unbeaten on 18 and Mpho Matsetela contributed 13 runs.
Two matches, two victories, and a team gaining valuable experience with every game. We are proud of the dedication, teamwork and character our u/15 cricket players displayed on the field.
