Lehani Benade, one of our talented grade 11 learners, made her mark in the arts this year by participating in ATKV’s DigiToneel with the touching piece Rapsodie tussen die Rakke, written by Inamari.
The production tells the story of a sixteen-year-old girl amidst the silent shelves of a library. There, she begins to express her inner world through rapping. As the tale unfolds, the audience is taken on an emotional journey – from experiencing family absence and facing personal disappointments, to finding comfort and inspiration in books, anime, and myths. Through these discoveries, she ultimately uncovers her own unique voice: a powerful mix of chaos, dreams, and victory.
Lehani’s performance not only demonstrated depth and conviction but also her ability to bring a complex character to life with sensitivity and energy. Her hard work and dedication were rewarded when she received a bronze accolade for her performance.
In addition, the production as a whole was also awarded a bronze accolade. This recognition stands as a testament to the high quality and creative excellence of the piece.
We are proud of Lehani’s achievement and look forward to experiencing many more successes on stage with her.
