Mr John Smith was one of the invited speakers at the Democratic Alliance (DA)'s presentation of solar panel lights to schools in the Sekhukhune constituency yesterday, 2 November 2025.
The presentation took place as part of a sustainable development initiative aimed at creating better learning environments for schools in areas where access to reliable electricity remains a challenge.
The solar panel lights were donated to the schools by the Taiwanese government, led by Dr Lilly Chen.
In his speech, Mr Smith pointed out that the provision of renewable energy not only brings light to classrooms but also symbolises hope for a better future.
“When we invest in the future, we give our children the tools to unlock their own potential,” said Mr Smith.
The event concluded with the handover of the solar panel lights to representatives of the schools in the Sekhukhune constituency- an act that serves as a ray of hope for the Sekhukhune community.
