Mr. John Smith
Principal of Hoërskool Ben Viljoen
Mr. John Smith left the cold highveld in October 2019, after being the deputy principal of Hoërskool Hoogenhout for 5 years.
The letter of appointment as principal followed on 29 January, which gave him the official principal post at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen from 1 February 2021! Mr. Smith follows in the steps of Mr. Albert Swaters, who was the man at the helm of one of the best schools in Limpopo for 17 years.
Mr. Smith says that the terrain with the beautiful surrounding orchards and scenery immediately drew his attention to Hoërskool Ben Viljoen. The school's uniqueness can be attributed to the fact that it is the only parallel medium school in an 80km radius and has a community that is economically strong due to the surrounding agricultural sector.
Mr. Smith's motto is "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them".
Hoërskool Ben Viljoen’s academic achievements speak for themselves and Mr. Smith says his goal is to further expand academic achievement by bringing more technology into the classrooms, and to refurbish the school's buildings so that the community can send their children with confidence to one of the top schools in Limpopo.
