Our netball teams played their first home league matches against Waterberg High School from Potgietersrus (Mokopane) on 25 April.
The golf season kicked off on 17 April 2023 with the first league meeting which took place in Naboomspruit.
Boomhuis Boys' Hostel held a 'potjiekos' (small pot stew) competition on Tuesday evening where the grades competed against each other to be crowned the Boomhuis 'potjiekos' (small pot stew) winner.
Yesterday, 24 April 2023, our boys' hockey teams faced Louis Trichardt on our home fields for the second league meeting of their season.
The South African Schools Swimming Championships took place from 20-23 April in Durban. Nine of our swimmers were included in the Limpopo team that took part in this championship.
On Sunday, 23 April 2023, Mighael Alberts took part in the qualifying round of the 50m freestyle, here he already improved the South African record. During the final he took 1st place with a time of 24.69
Hoërskool Ben Viljoen's rugby teams faced Curro Nelspruit on Saturday, 22 April. It was a friendly match that these teams played in Groblersdal.
The spectators were privileged to see very good rugby from u/14 to first team level. The u/14 and u/15 teams both had runaway victories while the senior teams had tough competition.
It was our turn, this past weekend to participate at Morgenzon Landbou-Akademie. The marksmen was gobsmacked when they realised that the school was so huge, that it even had its own dairy farm! Even though there was a few obstacles, the marksmen still gave their best.
This past Saturday, the Parkrun community had a very special participant. Mr Bruce Fordyce, the CEO of Parkrun SA, and a well-known South African marathon runner
ultramarathon athlete, was among the participants who started early in the morning at Loskop Gymnasium. Mr Fordyce is best known for winning the South African Comrades Marathon a record nine times, eight of which were consecutive victories. He also won the London to Brighton Ultramarathon three years in a row. He is the former world record holder over 50 miles and the former world record holder over 100 km.
Hoërskool Ben Viljoens' girls' hockey teams ventured to HTS Ligbron in Ermelo on Saturday where they played friendly matches. The Ben Viljoeners showed their strength but unfortunately did not win their matches.

We welcome Ms. Marianda van Jaarsveld back to the winning team! Ms. van Jaarsveld is a former learner who was part of our staff in the IT and CAT departments from 2007-2019. However, in 2020 she started teaching at HTS Witbank until the end of March 2023, after which her roots called her back to her alma mater.
Good luck to Rorisang Rammupudu, current Grade 12 learner, who is competing in the ASA Grand Prix athletics series. The first round of the series takes place today at the TUKS Athletics Stadium in Pretoria. The heats of the 400m, in which Rorisang is participating, start at 15:25.
Marice de Jager, one of our Grade 11 learners, played a role in the short film 'Lekker Kamp' which was broadcasted on Saturday, 8 April, on Via (channel 147 on DSTV).
From 31 March to 3 April, four of our swimmers participated, as part of the Tuks Limpopo team, in the SSA Level 3 Regional Championships at the Delville swimming pool in Germiston.
Our swimmers did great and their hard work paid off.
Duard Bruwer, current grade 12 learner, was selected to participate in the Waterberg Pathways Easter Festival tournament in Nylstroom (Modimolle) during the Easter weekend as part of the Northern Rhino's u/19 rugby team.
Rorisang Rammupudu took part in the ASA Senior National Athletics Championships from 30 March to 1 April which took place at the McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom.
Our first boys hockey team took part in the NWU Eagles hockey clinic in Potchefstroom from 25-29 March. During this clinic they were undefeated!
This past week the Bosveld Hockey Week took place on our home fields. It kicked off on 27 March with junior week running until 29 March, after which senior week kicked off on 30 March and ended on 1 April. The week was hosted by Nedstar specialist coaches to give the participating teams the opportunity to fully prepare for an action-packed winter sports season.

This is a weekend I will never forget!
It's always difficult to say goodbye, but as Jonathan Lockwood Huie said: "Celebrate every end, it's the forerunner of a new beginning". And as Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "Every thing has its appointed time" and this time to say "goodbye" has now arrived.
Ben Viljoen's equestrians took part in the second and third Limpopo qualifying rounds at Sanadors showgrounds in Bela-Bela (Warmbad) on 18 and 19 March.
