This past weekend our u/15 cricket team faced Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer from Thabazimbi in the Limpopo cricket final on our home ground.
In pure Hoërskool Ben Viljoen tradition, the Grade 12 learners had the privilege of ending their school career in a fitting way by ringing the bell for the last time on Wednesday, 18 October 2023.. When a learner starts at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen in Grade 8, there is a bell ringing ceremony that welcomes the learner as part of the Ben Viljoen family where they can feel at home. At the conclusion of Grade 12, the bell is rung for the very last time by the learner.
At the end of the academic year, recognition is given to the Grade 12 learners. This year's prestige event, or prize-giving ceremony, took place on Tuesday, 17 October. The gr. 8- to 11-learners received awards for sports and cultural activity, while the gr. 12 learners' academic achievements were also announced. For the matrics, this was their last prize giving of their school career and thus also an emotional one.

On Friday, four of our athletes took part in the Elardus Erasmus Athletics meeting which took place at Hoërskool Noordheuwel in Krugersdorp as part of their pre-season preparation.
Our matric learners had their last hall assembly as learners of Hoërskool Ben Viljoen today. With only the Prize Giving, Bell-Ringing Ceremony and the NSC exam left, these learners have thus said goodbye after 12 years in the classroom.
This past weekend our swimming team took part in the Top 8 Swimming Gala in Tzaneen. During this gala, our swimmers achieved an overall second place with 1545 points while Hoërskool Merensky won the gala with 1663 points.
During this past weekend, our u/17 rugby sevens team participated in the Champions Cup of the Frogfoot Sevens rugby tournament which took place at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

Four of our sevens rugby players took part in the u/17 Provincial Sevens' Tournament which took place at Grey College in Bloemfontein during this past holiday.
During this tournament, Anvernio Adonis, Mignon Stevens, Asheeq Bradford and Mihlali Ntlebi played for the Limpopo team who were the Bowl winners during the tournament.
On 30 September, Zaria Fourie took part in the fourth round of the Forge Racing off-road championships which took place at Aston Lake in Springs.
The AVS Bokkieweek's Summer Week took place during the school holidays (3-7 October) in Pretoria at Hoërskool Oos Moot and sixteen of Hoërskool Ben Viljoen's learners represented the respective unions of South-Eastern Transvaal, Far North, BCVO and Natal in fastball , hockey and sevens' rugby. However, one of our learners, LJ Jordaan, was part of the U/19 Bokkie rugby team that toured to Spain and played three matches against Spanish club rugby teams.
Limni-Lu Heswick took part in the last round of the Limpopo cricket trials which took place in Tzaneen during this past holiday.
During the past school holiday, five of our marksmen participated in the annual South African Bisley Championships which took place in Randburg from 30 September 2023 to 6 October 2023. Four hundred and twenty nine shooters from all over South Africa participated in the championships. The Mpumalanga team consisted of eighty one shooters and was the largest team that participated in the championships. Hard work and determination contributed to some of our marksmen shooting their personal bests.
On 5-6 October, the SASOL Foundation and Kagiso Trust's Interprovincial Practical Skills Competition for Technical Subjects took place at the University of Johannesburg.

On 27 September, our swimmers took part in the Inter-high swimming gala which took place in a soaking wet Groblersdal. Even though the rain interrupted the program every now and then, the swimmers showed that there really is water in their veins.

During final night of the 2023 Social Netball matches that took place on Tuesday, 26 September, we would like to thank all our participating teams for their good spirit and endurance. This year's social netball was definitely top notch, despite various factors, including load shedding, that affected the matches.
On 25 September our girls' cricket team faced Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer on our home field. We won the toss and decided to do fieldwork first. Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer managed to score only 83 for the loss of all ten wickets in 16.5 overs. Danelle Hall rampaged with the bowling and took a total of four wickets while Lexi Büchler took two wickets.
Our u/15 rugby sevens team took part in the Heritage Sport Festival on 23 September at Hoërskool Kanonkop in Middelburg.
On 21 September our girls' tennis team faced Hoërskool Pietersburg in the Limpopo tennis final.
