This past weekend, our u/15 and u/17 sevens rugby teams showed their strength at the Forge 7’s Tournament, hosted by Hoërskool Ben Vorster. The u/15 division took place on Friday, 28 August, while the u/17 teams were in action on Saturday, 29 August.
Our u/15 team started the tournament with great confidence, securing an impressive 66–00 victory over Waterberg Akademie in their first pool match.
In their second pool match, the team faced a highly competitive encounter against Hoërskool Piet Potgieter and unfortunately lost 24–26. The Dallers bounced back immediately, however, producing an excellent 43–5 victory over Hoërskool Frans du Toit in their third pool match.
In the Bowl semi-final, our boys unfortunately could not overcome the hosts, Hoërskool Ben Vorster, losing 07–31.
The team showed great character and finished the tournament on a high note. In the playoff for 7th and 8th place, our Dallers secured a hard-fought 26–22 victory over Merensky Landbou Akademie from Tzaneen.
The u/15 team therefore finished the tournament in an impressive overall seventh place – an achievement of which we are extremely proud!
Our u/17 sevens rugby team started both their tournament and their season in outstanding fashion, finishing in an excellent overall third place.
Our Dallers immediately made their presence felt in their first pool match with an impressive 31–00 victory over Hoërskool Eric Louw.
They continued their momentum by defeating Curro Heuwelkruin 39–00. In their final pool match, the team defeated Hoërskool Louis Trichardt 24–10, securing their place in the Cup Division playoffs.
In the Cup semi-final, we unfortunately went down 07–32 against Hoërskool Pietersburg. The team refused to give up and finished the tournament with an excellent performance in the Bronze Final.
There, they secured a well-deserved 19–10 victory over Hoërskool Hans Strijdom to claim the bronze medal and an overall third-place finish!
We are incredibly proud of both our u/15 and u/17 sevens rugby teams. Over the past weekend, they showed what can be achieved when talent, hard work, perseverance and Daller spirit come together.
