Mighael Alberts and Gustav Klingbiel qualified to take part in the South African Senior National Championships in Port Elizabeth. These championships took place, from 8 April to 13 April 2024, at the Newton Park swimming pool.
There were only four swimmers in Limpopo who qualified, of which Mighael and Gustav were the only two swimmers under 18. It was also a qualifying event for the Olympic Games of 2024. Both of our swimmers said that it was a privilege to be able to participate in such a big event with their role models who include, Chad le Clos, Pieter Coetzé, Matthew Sates, Roland Schoeman, Lara van Niekerk and Tatjana Schoenmaker (Smith).
Gustav participated in the 50m freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke, 100m freestyle and butterfly as well as the 200m freestyle, while Mighael participated in the 50m freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly, as well as the 100m freestyle and breaststroke. Both swimmers improved their times in the respective items during the Championship.
